Should I See a Balance Specialist?
If you’re experiencing the following symptoms, you may have a balance disorder:
- Sense of spinning
- Feeling faint or lightheaded
- Unsteadiness and feeling like you might fall
- Blurred vision
- Confusion
What Will Happen at My Appointment?
Our balance specialist will discuss your symptoms, how long they’ve been present and the ways that they’re impacting your life. They will likely perform balance testing, which will help determine the specifics of the disorder you’re experiencing and how best to respond to it.
How Are Balance Disorders Treated?
Following your comprehensive neurodiagnostic evaluation, our balance expert will analyze your results to determine the possible causes and create customized treatment recommendations. If your symptoms are the result of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, or BPPV, the condition can be treated with specific movements. Other conditions may require diet and lifestyle changes. We may also provide a referral for medical or surgical treatment or for specific type of physical therapy known as Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy/Balance Retraining Therapy.
The symptoms of your balance disorder don’t have to restrict you from living the life you want to. We can help.
